I created this webpage to celebrate the literary work of my father John Booth. I don't do Facegram or Instabook so I thought I'd try this as a way of explanation and contact if anyone is interested? Oh by the way "BATTLE OF THE BLACK PIG" is for sale at AMAZON!
John Booth 1936-1998
Writer, Author and Journalist. John started his career writing comics for DC Thomson in the 1950s creating groovy stories such as "The Worm that Turned" (Tales of Terror), "Danger is A-Broad" (S.A.T.A.N. Spies Anonymous To All Nations), "MUD, BLOOD and STEEL" (Battlecry). He moved from Dundee to London before settling in East Sussex.
Dad had the happy knack of writing about subjects close to his heart. Drink and drinking were a lifelong enthusiasm - he devoted long years to studying and sampling a wide range of wines, spirits and real ales - which led to books such as "The Drinking Man's Guide to Kent & Sussex Pubs", " A History of European Wine", and "Creative Spirits: A Toast to Literary Drinkers. In a more sober mood, he has written books on art and music.
Better known for his non-fiction works like "Literary Lovers" and "A Vision of Ireland - JACK B YEATS", he continued to write fiction.
I am Guy Booth and had been working with Dad on several of his books until his sudden and tragic death in December 1998.
My sister Sally and I inherited his literary estate and pondered early retirement on the arrival of regular large royalty cheques.
Years later, and still waiting I stumbled on one of Dad's stories, a humorous and sometimes sad tale of loves, labours, lust and loss in a rural East Sussex village in the 1960s.
With my sisters consent, I set myself a challenge, I would try and resurrect "Battle of the Black Pig".
So, in short, I edited, added, amended and posthumously published, "BATTLE OF THE BLACK PIG".
I think it's a pretty good read and I hope you do too!
If you have purchased "Battle of the Black Pig" then firstly THANK YOU! I really hope you enjoyed it and it would be fantastic if you could leave a review.
